The Mayor wants to make sure all older Londoners get the support available to them.

What support is there?

You could be entitled to Pension Credit if you are above State Pension age, and:

  • single with an income of less than £201.05 a week
  • or part of a couple with an income of less than £306.85 a week

If you reached State Pension age before 6 April 2016, you could get Savings Credit and receive up to:

  • £15.94 per week if you are a single pensioner
  • or £17.84 per week if you are part of a couple

What about other benefits?

If you are entitled to Pension Credit, you might get other help too. For example:

  • free NHS dental treatment
  • help towards the cost of glasses and travel to hospital
  • a £25 Cold Weather Payment when the temperature is 0°C or below for seven days in a row.

If you rent your home, you could claim Housing Benefit to cover these costs in full. If you’re a homeowner, you may be able to get help with mortgage interest, ground rent and service charges.

You probably won’t have to pay Council Tax unless other people live with you.

If you have caring responsibilities, you could get Carer Premium, or Carer Addition if it’s paid with Pension Credit. This is worth up to £36.85 a week.

You can only get a free TV licence if you’re aged 75 or over and claim Pension Credit.

Who can help me with my claim?
